Logistics Supervisor


Duties:Conduct daily planning with ops staff  to determine requirements and capacity

  • Monitor progress and pro-actively address deviations that negate service delivery
  • Ensure pro-active measurement of operations and ensure a plan of action is in place to achieve company goals and objectives
  • Zero Tolerance on downtime
  • Adhere to customs Bond Store regulations.
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports on labour performance to AIHL GM and Plant Manager
  • Provide a daily, weekly and monthly report on all functional areas of responsibility including challenges
  • Verify that all on boarding documentation is completed and forwarded to Payroll for processing.
  • Ensure employees payslips are distributed prior to the salary deposit reflecting.
  • Review variance reports fortnight to fortnight.
  • Arrange payments with Finance Department, submit schedule in order for correct accruals to be made.
  • Assist families of deceased staff to ensure quick processing of necessary documentation to eliminate delays in payouts.
  • Follow-up with administrators on processing of documents for terminated staff.
  • All discrepancies must be attended to prior to payment to employees.
  • Ensure that preliminary payrolls are verified and signed-ff by the Operations Supervisor, the Plant Manager and the Financial Manager.
  • Ensure all expense and overtime claims are approved by the Plant Manager.
  • Ensure that payroll input is accurately supplied for processing to the Payroll Manager timeously.
  • Comply with clients’ contractual requirements with continuous analysis of service delivery targets & objectives.
  • Maintain and develop customer relationship with courteous and prompt replies to customer queries.
  • Deal with issues regarding the Unions.
  • Monitor staff discipline against company policy and take action when necessary.
  • In consultation with regional HR implement training initiatives where required to support on the job training and guidance.
  • Conduct monthly quarterly performance reviews.
  • Ensure that staff members are motivated by providing leadership & direction.
  • Identify and record all hazards relating to the business
  • Plan and co-ordinate safety projects emanating from incidents and accidents as approved by Management.
  • Ensure all staff are familiar and have a sound understanding of the Emergency Response Plans.
  • Co-ordinate SHERQ Programme in conjunction with the ISO system
  • Ensure that forklift driver licences are tracked and renewed timeously.
  • Ensure that all appointment letters are on file, dates are valid and certificates of competency are on file for 37 ‘s, 16.2 ‘s, Safety Reps., First Aiders and Fire Marshalls.
  • Review the legal appointments and training records to ensure  accuracy, relevancy and completeness thereof.
  • Provides support and expertise to Line Management in incident/accident investigations and reporting of same
  • Analyse potential incident, incidents and accident trends.
  • Inform Senior Management of all accidents and incidents immediately.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents as and when required.
  • Facilitate monthly Safety Committee meetings and weekly toolbox talks
  • Ensure that employees receive the necessary training in operating equipment required for the job.
  • Ensure that staff are trained and that training interventions are tracked on a training matrix according to the job requirements.
  • Ensure that contingency pool is well skilled.
  • Ensure that contingency pool is available to fill any positions due to absenteeism with little or no impact to production targets.
  • Ensure that all staff are fully aware of the leave application process.
  • Ensure personnel files are accurate and up to date-monthly spot audits.
  • Ensure that all applications for bonus and leave payouts to the relevant bargaining councils are done timeously.
  • Assist families of deceased staff to ensure quick processing of necessary documentation to eliminate delays in payouts.
  • Ensure that all staff receive the induction programme on engagement.
  • Resolve staff queries as efficiently as possible.
  • Verify that all withdrawal forms are completed and submitted to the necessary bodies when staff are terminated.
  • Ensure all new engagements are on the payroll report
  • Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Degree or certificate in logistics or management
  • 5-7 Year ‘s Experience in the Logistics sector with at least 2 of those years in a Supervisory role.
  • 3-5 Year ‘s Experience in SHERQ and HR Management
  • Familiar with ISO processes

Salary: Dependant on Experience
